A representative of the Russian team Ivan Burdanov managed to take second place in the German Open Championship in radio-controlled soaring gliders in the F3J class. Pioneer Group was the general sponsor of the athlete.
This competition is very popular in Germany. This year, they attracted more than a hundred contestants from around the world. Russian athletes took part in the international championship for the first time. The debutants were Ivan Burdanov and Andrei Volkov.
Our pilots competed with the strongest world class athletes: double European champion Sebastian Feigl, double world champion Benedict Feigl and Max Finke, European champion among juniors.
Only Ivan Burdanov managed to defeat many rivals and reach the final of the Championship, 19.5 points behind the leader with a total score of 99.67%. In three final flights the Russian pilot was able to perform risky short starts and demonstrate landing “near miss”. Only 0.7 points separated Ivan Burdanov from the first place.
According to the junior, this competition was very important for him. They allowed him to adjust the training program for the upcoming World Championships in July.
